(WOIO) - Toyota announced today that it is recalling 400,000 vehicles.
The company says the cars and SUVs could have steering problems. Officials say the steering lock bars could break under certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall came just two weeks after Toyota was subpoenaed by a federal grand jury to produce documents related to steering problems.
Toyota Avalons made between 2000 and 2004 and Lexus LX 470 SUVs produced between 2003 and 2007 are on the list.
The car maker says it will notify owners in mid to late August to bring their vehicles to their local dealership for repairs.
