Going Down: County Department Head Charged, Frank Russo Implicated in Latest Filing

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - More charges filed in the ongoing Cuyahoga County corruption probe.

19 Action News has learned that Daniel Weaver has been charged. Weaver - a department head that handles computer systems for the county - is accused of conspiracy to commit bribery with Public Official #2, widely believed to be Frank Russo. [Read the bill of information HERE]

Weaver is accused of giving Russo cash over the course of several years with the knowledge that Russo never had to reimburse him. Instead, Weaver benefited through Russo's county power to influence contracts and so that Russo would be receptive to his ideas on specific board projects.

The information charges that Russo knew Weaver had resources aside from his county employment which would enable Weaver to give Russo money. It also charges that Weaver gave things of value to Russo on his birthday and at Christmas between 2005 and on or about July 29th, 2008. These things of value consisted of cash in the amounts of $50 or $100, ties or $100 gift cards. Russo never gave things of value to Weaver.
