CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A driver is speaking out about hitting and killing a little girl in Cleveland.
Ken Crawford say he's doing it because he wants to meet with the child's family.
Crawford opened his heart to 19 Action News about what really happened.
It was the first time he's talked about the July 17th tragedy.
Crawford was driving the car that killed Verianna Owens. He says while turning into his driveway on Somerset he bent down to pick up a cup and that is when the accident occured.
He says there was a van blocking his view and never saw his little neighbor.
"I want to give my condolences to the family and say that I'm very very sorry for what happened. I been by myself praying and going to see the doctor myself it's hard for me to sleep and I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about what happened to that baby. I used to give that baby cookies and Doritos every day of my life she comes over to my car I open my door and her mother knows it I like that baby too," said Ken Crawford.
Crawford tells 19 Action news that he would even like to get his family and the little girl's family together to pray.
At the time police said that it looked like just an accident but now police will only say the investigation is still open.
