Maine man tasered after taking cops on high-speed chase in stolen car

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Around 6:30PM Sunday evening, officers from the Akron Police Department assisted Boston Heights Police with a chase of a stolen car.

The stolen car - driven by Joshua M. Deprez - exited Route 8 southbound at Perkins Street with Boston Heights in pursuit. Deprez drove from Perkins Street to North Howard Street, where he struck a light pole at East North Street.

The 35-year-old Maine man then ran from the car into a wooded area where he was finally apprehended by officers. Deprez was tased before he was brought into custody.

During the pursuit, speeds exceeded 100 mph and the suspect also rammed a Boston Heights Police cruiser head-on.

Joshua M. Deprez was charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Official Business by the Akron Police Department, and he faces additional charges from the Boston Heights Police Department.
