AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A wife killer won't be getting out of prison anytime soon.

Judge Callahan has turned down Joseph Gorospe's appeal. Gorospe beat his wife with a baseball bat in 2006 at the couple's Hudson home.

Gorospe will be re-sentenced - just to revive the record - on August 11th at 1PM.

The family of Marissa - known as Marci - vows to fight to keep him behind bars the rest of his life. They describes Joseph as so controlling, he forced her to convert from Judaism to Catholicism and made her change her first name.

Gorospe can seek parole in 19 years and three months.
