Man in motorized wheelchair ran over enroute to church

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - A man in a motorized wheelchair was hit by a car on his way to church Sunday morning.

The accident happened just after 9AM at Clark Street and Warren Avenue in Elyria.

Police tell 19 Action News that Brennan Williams - who suffers from cerebral palsy - was traveling southbound on Warren Avenue when he was struck in the intersection.

Williams was traveling on the road because the sidewalks are uneven, making it difficult in a wheelchair. He was rushed to Metro and was treated and released.

The driver fled, but was later found. Charges have yet to be filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
