CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Harrah's Entertainment Inc. will help Dan Gilbert bring a casino to Cleveland.
The Cavaliers owner and head of Rock Gaming LLC, announced Thursday that Harrah's would develop and operate planned downtown casinos in both Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Gamers may be able to get their fix as early as next year, when a temporary casino is set up in the former Higbee Building.
The permanent casino site will be near the Cuyahoga River.
The joint venture though is still subject to definitive agreements, which are expected to be completed this fall.
Rock Gaming is expected to retain majority ownership in the proposed partnership and Harrah's will contribute Thistledown Racetrack, which is recently purchased.
