YORK TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The older sister of a two-year-old who died last Friday passed away on Monday.
Mary McCormick was badly injured last week and her 2-year-old sister, Justina, died when they both got trapped in a neighbor's hot car.
The girls were both being watched by a 13-year-old cousin when they vanished and were missing less than an hour.
Medina Police first launched an investigation after Justina's death.
According to the sheriff's department, their grandfather was taking a nap when they disappeared.
When Grandpa woke up, he realized the little girls were missing and called police. Police arrived on scene and began their search.
Justina died from extreme heat. Until Monday, Mary had been in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center.
Chief Kenneth Baca of the Medina County Sheriff's office says "the car door was ajar and she had just come home... she was the only one in the vehicle and the passenger door was ajar."
