HARDY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Holmes County Sheriff Tim Zimmerly reports that his Deputies are investigating a two vehicle head-on fatal crash that occurred at around midnight Saturday night / Sunday morning.

Killed in the crash was 68 year old James Blake of 905 Portage Road, Wooster.

Investigation by Deputies indicates that Blake was driving northbound on SR 83 near Mile Post 12 in Hardy Township when he had to swerve left into the southbound lane to avoid hitting a tree that had fallen into the northbound lane.

It appears that Blake over corrected when attempting to pull back into his proper lane and lost control of his 1994 Ford Tempo. Blake then struck a south bound 2009 Dodge Truck owned by Holmes-Wayne Electric Coop. Inc. The Holmes-Wayne truck was driven by 30 year old Michael G. Rowe of 10501 Deer Run Drive, Fredricksburg.

Blake was pronounced dead at the scene by Holmes County Coroner Dr. Robert Anthony. Both vehicles received major disabling damage and Blake had to be extricated from his vehicle by Holmes District # 1 EMS Personnel. The driver, Michael Rowe and passenger / employee Rick Fox of Holmes-Wayne Electric were not injured.

Holmes County Sheriff's Deputies had just been dispatched and were enroute to the tree down call when the crash call came in,

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Holmes District # 1 and Prairie Twp. Fire and EMS Personnel as well as Millersburg Police.

Investigation into the crash continues.
