(WOIO) - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Keith Coopwood.
Coopwood is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office on charges of failing to register as a sex offender.
In 1985, Coopwood was indicted on charges of attempted rape, aggravated burglary, and attempted murder. Coopwood broke into his victim's home and attempted to rape her. The woman, who was sleeping at the time, awoke to find Coopwood standing over her with a knife. The woman resisted the rape and as a result Coopwood stabbed her multiple times with the knife in the face, hands and body.
Coopwood was eventually caught and convicted of this crime. Since then, Coopwood has been required to register as a sexual offender with the county. Coopwood is a habitual offender for failing to register his place of residency with the Sheriff's Office. Coopwood has a history of violence in his background and should be approached with caution.
Coopwood is a 58-year-old black male standing approximately 6'00", and weighing approximately 210 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Coopwood is known to frequent the area of Worley Avenue and Broadway Avenue. Coopwood has previously resided on the 13000 block of Kinsman Road. Coopwood has previously resided on the 13000 block of Kinsman Road. Coopwood is believed to be homeless at the time and is wondering the streets near Broadway Avenue and Harvard Avenue.
