Indicted: Federal Grand Jury indicts two more in Cuyahoga County corruption probe

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A federal grand jury has indicted 43-year-old Steven Canepa and 42-year-old Charles Edwards - both of Mantua, Ohio, in connection with the ongoing Cuyahoga County corruption probe. [Read the entire indictment HERE]

The indictment charges Canepa, former business manager of Maple Heights City Schools, with one count of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, one count of Hobbs Act violation and one count of mail fraud.

The indictment charges Edwards, owner of C. Edwards Landscaping, Inc., with one count of conspiracy to commit bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, one count of Hobbs Act violation and one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds.

According to the feds, the district is a mess. Previous indictments connected to Maple Heights include Sandy Klimkowski, a former school board, charged.  Also charged is Christopher Krause, the former treasure of the district, at least 3 local contractors.
