(WOIO) - An escaped Arizona inmate and his female accomplice were arrested in eastern Arizona on Thursday.
Authorities say John McCluskey and Casslyn Welch were captured near Springerville, west of the Arizona-New Mexico border.
David Gonzalez of the U.S. Marshals says a forest service worker at a campground in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest spotted two people matching the description of the fugitives and called authorities.
Authorities gathered a team and took McCluskey and Welch into custody.
Welch is accused of helping McCluskey and two other inmates escape from a privately-operated prison in Kingman, Arizona on July 30. The other two inmates were later arrested. McCluskey and Welch have been on the run.
