Fatal Crash: One killed, four injured in multi-car crash

UPDATE: PARKMAN TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Chardon Post of the Highway Patrol responded to a four vehicle crash at 5:50AM Monday morning on SR 528 in Parkman Township.

43-year-old Chadwick Spence of Garrettsville, was northbound on a 1999 Buick Regal when he traveled left of center striking 66-year-old Thomas Schlappal of Leroy Township. Mr. Schlappal was southbound on SR 528 in a 1994 Dodge Ram 3500, pulling a utility trailer carrying a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. In the vehicle was 54-year-old David Williamson seated in the right front seat of Mr. Schlappal's vehicle when it was struck. This collision caused Mr. Schlappal to loose control traveling into the northbound lanes.

49-year-old Sonya Yochman of Hiram was northbound on SR 528 in a 2008 Liberty and struck Mr. Schlappal's vehicle in the front passenger door where Mr. Williamson was sitting, as Is spun into her lane. Mr. Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Traveling northbound behind the Jeep Liberty was 46-year-old Donald Yoxall in a 2005 Ford F-150. Mr. Yoxall attempted to take evasive action and drove off the right side of the road when his vehicle was struck by the trailer of Mr. Schlappal's vehicle. Mr. Yoxall was treated for minor injuries at the scene and was not transported.

Mr. Schlappal was flown to Cleveland Metro Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Ms. Yochman and Mr. Spence were taken Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash remains under investigation at this time and no further information is available.
