UPDATE: CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The man who sexually assaulted a Cleveland woman got the maximum prison sentence in court on Tuesday.
Dwight Gales was sentenced to 10-years behind bars.
On April 17th, 44-year-old Gales approached the 30-year-old female victim as she was walking down the street near West 25th and Scranton. She rejected his advances and continued to walk until Gales forced her to a nearby abandon house.
Gales sexually assaulted her. He took her phone and let her leave. She went to the hospital.
"I felt like he was going to kill me, like his purpose was to kill me," the victim said in court. "I can still feel him hitting me in the my face with the gun. It was like being in the room with somebody not human."
The following day, in an attempt to retrieve her phone, the victim called her phone and arranged to buy it back from the male who answered it. The victim contacted police.
The male, who was Gales, showed up near West 14th and Scranton at a gas station to sell the phone. Cleveland Police arrested him.
Gales has been in prison 12 times and has been convicted of 23 felonies.
He will be labeled as a sexual offender upon his release from prison.
