Bus driver charged in pedestrian's death

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A Canton bus driver has been charged in the death of a 70-year-old man hit by a bus last week as he was crossing the street.
Robert Penix, 50, of Canton Township, was charged on Wednesday with misdemeanor counts of vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter.
Penix has been driving for the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority for 15 years. The agency's operations manager said that it hasn't been decided whether Penix will keep his job.
Lewis Polen, 70, of Canton, had gotten off the bus Penix was driving and was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck last Friday. He died the next day at Akron City Hospital.
