Woman accused of smuggling pot to prisoner under stamps

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - A woman has been accused of placing marijuana under stamps sent to an inmate at the Lorain Correctional Institution.
Caitlyn Derck, 19, of Fostoria, has been charged with conveying illegal narcotics onto the grounds of a correctional facility, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Investigators intercepted 10 letters mailed to the inmate, and underneath each stamp was less than one gram of marijuana, said patrol Lt. Rick Fambro.
The patrol would not say if the marijuana was put on stamps used on envelopes or whether the marijuana was on stamps mailed to the prison.
Derck turned herself in to the Fostoria Police Department after she learned there was a warrant for her arrest, according to the patrol. She appeared in Elyria Municipal Court on Friday.
Derck was being held at the Lorain County Jail. If convicted, she faces up to one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.
