Cedar Point puts for sale sign on Demon Drop

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - Cedar Point is putting one of its thrill rides up for sale.

The amusement park is trying to sell Demon Drop -- a 131-foot tall ride that drops riders at speeds up to 55 mph.

Selling the ride would give the park more room for future projects, park spokesman Bryan Edwards said Monday.

"If we can sell it, we will sell," he said. "If not, we will keep it."

Demon Drop, which sits near the park's main entrance, was built for $2.5 million in 1983. Since then, it has given 16 million rides.

"It is still a good thrill ride," Edwards said.

It will continue to operate while it is for sale.
