43 Forum: Foundation of Community Betterment

CLEVELAND, OH (1/27/11) - In this week's 43 Forum, Marc Milkie revealed that he was a double amputee, both his legs cut off just below his knees.

Someone heard about his situation and The Foundation of Community Betterment helped him and his family through the ordeal.

He's giving back by serving as the organization's Chair and National Board Member.

The Foundation Community for Betterment was established in 2000 by eight professionals between the ages of 25-35 who wanted to find a way to give back or pay it forward.

Since 2010 they have raised over 1.8-million dollars.

This year as a result of their annual fundraiser, The 2011 Black & White Ball:  Mad About Cleveland, they will fund efforts by three deserving organizations, including today's other guest, The New Life Community.

N-L-C is a residential program founded to inspire, teach and empower homeless, jobless families.

Part of it's mission is to help them transition to a life of self-sufficiency.  N-L-C currently houses 14 families.  It also helps parents get their GED is needed.
