Homicide: Shooting victim robbed after being fatally shot

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a black man. Police say it happened Monday at approximately 5:58 p.m.

Cops responded to 10119 Madison Avenue for a shooting. When they arrived they found Leonte V. Stevenson of East Cleveland, 26, with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Witnesses told police Stevenson was in the hallway of the Madison Avenue address when two men attempted to rob him. During the robbery attempt one of the suspects, a black male, shot Stevenson in the leg. After being shot he ran out of the building and collapsed on the ground.

After collapsing, Stevenson was robbed. He was taken by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died.
