Korean War Veteran dies while replacing American flag on Memorial Day

CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

A Korean War veteran died on Memorial Day while trying to replace an American flag.

James Catron, 83, of Meadowlawn S.W. climbed a television tower at this home Monday, May 30th to replace a tattered American flag when he died in the process.

The Stark County Coroner's office tells 19 Action News that a neighbor noticed Catron slumped over on the tower an hour later and called 911. Catron was attached to the tower by a safety belt he was wearing.

The Coroner's office says Catron seemingly died from natural causing, however they are still investigating his death at this time.
