Dominion East Ohio called to a gas leak on Carnegie Ave.

Several blocks were shut down for a short time Tuesday morning due to a major gas leak in Cleveland.

It happened around 8:30 AM at 6701 Carnegie Avenue.

Officials say a back-hoe operator dug through a gas pipe at the mid-town tech park.

The smell of natural gas was so strong at first, that firefighters considered evacuations.

A Dominion East Ohio crew responded to the scene and quickly turned off the valve.

Firefighters were also called as a precaution.

There were no injuries.
