Ayman al-Zawahiri emerges as new leader of al Qaeda

al Qaeda has a new leader.

According to numerous jihadist websites Ayman al-Zawahiri has been appointed to pick up where Osama bin Laden left off.

al-Zawahiri was bin Laden's deputy when he was killed last month in a U.S. raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

al-Zawahiri is a doctor and founding member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ), a militant organization that merged with al Qaeda in 1998.

The FBI is offering a $25 million reward for information leading to his capture.
