AKRON, OH (WOIO)
Two people are dead as the result of a one-vehicle accident on 76 westbound at the central interchange.
It happened Thursday night around 8:20 PM in Akron.
Police say James L. Woodruff, 28, was traveling westbound when he lost control, veered left, and struck the concrete median barrier along the left shoulder. His Honda continued in a south-westerly direction, flipped onto its roof, and came to rest in a heavy brush area in the grassy median.
Woodruff, of Akron, survived. He was taken to Akron General Medical Center.
There were four other people in the car, two men and two women.
The front seat passenger, Rochelle R. Braziel, 35, of Akron and the middle rear passenger Jeanette D. Weiss, 38, of Cleveland, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner.
The left rear passenger, 30-year old Derrick A. Smith of Akron and the right rear passenger, 27-year old Brian E. Hudson also of Akron, were taken to Akron City Hospital.
Their conditions are not known at this time.
The crash remains under investigation, but police say they believe alcohol to be a factor.
