Man driving motorcycle LifeFlighted after crash

ELYRIA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Elyria Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating an accident involving a motorcycle that happened Saturday night on State Route 57.

Troopers say Arthur Gula, 50 of Elyria, was driving a Harley Davidson Sportster when he exited Interstate 90 onto SR 57 southbound.

As he attempted to merge to the left with southbound traffic, he struck a concrete curb at the end of the ramp.

Gula's motorcycle overturned and he was ejected from the vehicle.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Gula was LifeFlighted to MetroHealth Medical Center where he's listed in critical condition.

It does not appear that Gula was driving recklessly, drugs and alcohol are not a factor in the crash.  No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
