Friends and neighbors remember lost Tomasheski family members

LORAIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Friends and family of the Tomasheski's gathered for a candlelight vigil Wednesday night at Midview North Elementary.

With half of this family killed in a horrific car crash, all friends and neighbors who came out could do was remember the dead and pray for the survivors.

Thomas Tomasheski is a Lorain County Sheriff's deputy, his late wife Tammy was a leader in the church.  The family was much loved.

Friends aren't just remembering the Tomasheski's, they're working for them selling t-shirts here and at the Sheriff's office.  They also set up a memorial fund at First Place Bank.  They hope to raise at least $10,000 to help the family.

On June 11th, the Tomasheski family was driving in their car on State Route 83 in Grafton when they were struck by suspect drunk driver Gerald Wetherbee Jr.

Thomas and Danielle Tomasheski both remain in critical condition at separate Cleveland hospitals.

Wetherbee, who was hospitalized after the crash, is now in the Lorain County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.
