Nanny busted after abuse is caught on tape

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - On Friday, June 24th the Lake County Sheriff's Office received a report of Child Endangering / Child Abuse. The Concord Resident reported that he hired a female he identified as Aneshree Govender as a live in Nanny.

He reported that Govender had lived in his residence for approximately one year.

The resident reported that he had previously installed video cameras throughout his residence. He stated that he was at his residence on Tuesday, June 14th when he observed Govender abusing his 3-year-old son on the video cameras.

The resident reported that he confronted Govender and fired her on the spot. He stated that he contacted the security company who installed the video cameras to obtain copies of the video surveillance from inside his residence. He was able to provide copies of video from Tuesday, May 31, 2011 through Tuesday, June 14, 2011.

Deputies were able to view this video and found several incidents where Govender was caught on the video violently attacking and abusing the 3-year-old child.

Deputies immediately responded to the last known residence of Aneshree Govender to arrest her. The deputies were able to speak with a male who identified himself as Govender's husband. The husband informed deputies that Govender had already left the country to go to South Africa due to the fact that she feared prosecution and that her Visa was about to expire.

Deputies immediate secured arrest warrants for Govender and contacted the Painesville FBI Office. The FBI was able to confirm that Govender had indeed left the country to South Africa.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate by going over the last year of video surveillance from the residence. We are also working with the FBI to determine if a Federal Warrant can be issued for Govender's arrest. If this warrant is issued Govender would be extradited back to the United States if she is found in a country that has extradition with the United States.
