Motorcyclist killed in accident W. 56th & Memphis Avenue

Cleveland Police were called to a fatal accident at W. 56th & Memphis Avenue just before 8 PM.

Once on scene cops found that the accident involved a motorcycle and a green Ford Explorer and upon further investigation found that the operator of the motorcycle had been ejected from the motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was operating west bound on Memphis Avenue above the posted speed limit. At W.56th the motorcycle went left of center and struck the Ford Explorer which was operating eastbound on Memphis Avenue. As a result of the impact of the collision the motorcycle operator was ejected from the motorcycle.

The 39-year old operator of the motorcycle was conveyed to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died. The operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The Explorer was occupied by two adult Hispanic females and two juvenile Hispanic females. The adult female passenger and both juvenile passengers were conveyed to MetroHealth Medical Center, where they are being treated for minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle reported no injuries at this time.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
