Court appearance set for woman charged in deadly accident on I-90

Jennifer M. Kearney will make her first court appearance Tuesday morning.

The 27 year old Westlake woman was charged with one count of vehicular homicide last week.

The Cleveland Division of Police Communications Control Section received a call for an accident on Interstate 90 West Bound at W.98th Street. Once on scene First District officers found that the accident involved a motorcycle and a Subaru Outback and upon further investigation found that the operator of the motorcycle had been ejected from the motorcycle.

Due to the severity of the accident the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit was notified and responded to the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Subaru Outback was operating west bound on Interstate 90 East. Just east of the W.98th Street exit, the Subaru struck the motorcycle head-on causing the motorcycle operator to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS. The operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The operator of the Subaru, Kearney, was conveyed to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was treated and released for her injuries.

Officials say she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and refused testing.

A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample which was sent for testing.
