PLAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - A Plain Township man was arrested after his 4-year-old son was found wandering the street alone for the second time this year.

According to the Stark County Jail, Michael J. Nichols was booked for child endangering Thursday after his son was found wandering along Applegrove Road in the middle of the night.

This is the second time the child got out of his home in the middle of the night.

According to North Canton Police, back in March the boy let himself out of his home around 3 a.m. wearing only his pajamas in the middle of the night, in 30 degree weather. The father called police around 9 a.m. the next morning when he woke up and noticed his son was missing. Police determined at the time that the case was not "abuse or neglect" so charges were not filed.

This time around, officers arrested the child's father Michael Nichols of Starcliff Avenue N.W. Thursday evening around 11:45 p.m.

Nichols was taken into custody and booked at the Stark County Jail for Endangering Children.

Friday, July 1st Nichols pled no contest to charges in court and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and a $50.00 fine.

A post sentence investigation hearing was set for August 2nd, 2011.
