Area residents planning Fourth of July fireworks celebrations of their own this week should let the professionals handle it or else!
Parma Police have a zero tolerance policy on illegal fireworks this holiday.
The department will have at least two extra units out this weekend, devoted exclusively to fireworks complaints.
They say if it sparkles, smokes or pops, then you're okay but if it shoots up in the air or explodes you could get fined up to $1,000 and up to six months in jail.
"Possession as well as discharging of fireworks is a misdemeanor of the first degree. That means you can get fined up to a thousand dollars and up to six months in jail," said Capt. Bob DeSimone, Parma Police.
