Daniel Radcliff revealed that achieving Hollywood fame at such a young age took its toll on him. In a recent interview with British GQ, Radcliffe admits to having a drinking problem and boozing on the set.
Radcliffe said his battle with alcohol all began during the filming of ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' in 2009. The 21 year old said, "I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me." He said it is completely by chance that the media never caught wind of his drinking habits.
Luckily, Radcliffe got his act together and has been sober for almost a year now. He attributes his sobriety to accepting the fact that he is going to live a quiet lifestyle. In fact, he opted not to attend the premier of the latest installment of the Harry Potter series, ‘The Deathly Hallows Part 2." Instead he chose to stay home and watch TV.
He is very happy with his decision to give-up the party-hard lifestyle. He told British GQ, "I'm actually enjoying the fact that I can have a relationship with my girlfriend [Olive Uniacke] where I'm really pleasant and not f----d up totally all the time."
Now clean and sober, Radcliffe is starring in a Broadway musical called ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
