Scott Shaw joined the 19 Action News team after nearly two years in Cadillac, Mich., where he was the meteorologist/weather producer/systems manager at WWTV-TV.
Scott graduated from Iowa State University (Go Clones!) in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. After graduating, he took a job as a part-time morning/weekend meteorologist at WXOW-TV in La Crosse, Wis.
His next move was to WEAU-TV, up north in Eau Claire, Wis., where he remained as chief meteorologist for more than four years.
Scott holds the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for television and radio broadcasting, and he was recognized as the "Best Weathercast" producer by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in 1999.
Among his loves at work are creating weather graphics and tracking storms and lake-effect snow on Dominion Dual Doppler radar.
"I'm one of those sick people who want the worst part of the storm to come over my house," Scott says.
Scott resides in Mentor, where he loves the usually snowy Ohio winters. In his spare time, Scott plays league tennis, is a die-hard Tribe fan and enjoys seeing family and friends, many of whom are in northeast Ohio.
"Weather fascinates me because it's so unpredictable and changes everyday," he says.
