Cleveland Police involved in shooting on city's west side

Cleveland Police are investigating a police involved shooting at W. 49th and Eichorn Avenue Saturday evening.

Earlier Saturday, a 17-year-old male was spotted waiving a gun during a road rage incident. Witnesses called in the suspect's vehicle description and license plates to Cleveland Police who later spotted the driver at W. 49th and Eichorn around 5 p.m. in the gray, four door Cadillac.

Cleveland Police pulled over the vehicle with guns drawn because there were reports earlier that the suspect had a gun. They approached the vehicle and opened both the front driver side and front passenger side door to investigate.

That's when officers say the teen put the car in reverse hitting both officers with the open doors.

One shot was fired, but did not cause any injuries.

Officers cuffed and stuffed the male, he's now been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer.

It is unknown at this time which officer fired the shot.

Both officers are being taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with minor injuries.

It is unknown if the suspect's alleged weapon was recovered from the scene.
