I-77 in Jackson Township reopens amid HOF bridge incident

CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

Jackson Township Police tell 19 Action News that all north and southbound lanes of I-77 in Stark County have reopened following the conclusion of an incident on the HOF bridge.

Police and fire were called out to the HOF Bridge that crosses over I-77 between Whipple Avenue and Portage Saturday evening. The call came out around 8 p.m. and all lanes of I-77 were immediately shut down.

Jackson Township police tell 19 Action News that a 19-year-old female had climbed over to the exterior portion of the bridge and was threatening to jump. 

Around 10:24 p.m., officers were able to talk the teen down and transport her to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

All lanes of I-77 were then reopened.
