Extreme heat, storms causing power outages in Northeast Ohio

EASTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - The Illuminating Company reported several large power outages Saturday caused mainly by extreme heat or passing storms.

In Lake County, Eastlake and Willoughby reported approximately 15,000 customers without power between 5-7:30 p.m. 19 Action News is told this was because of a technical failure at a Willoughby substation.

Back in Cuyahoga County, power outages started rolling into the area around 7:30 p.m.

The City of Westlake reported approximately 2,000-5,000 customers without power around 7:30p.m. Most cities in Cuyahoga County experienced some outages throughout the day.
