Justin Germano, a pitcher for the Indians Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers, threw a perfect game Tuesday night against the Syracuse Chiefs. The Clippers won 3-0.
He struck out seven batters to earn his first win of the season. It's the first perfect game in Clippers history, and only the fifth in the history of the International League.
Germano, who was a reliever at the start of the season, was thrown into the rotation after the Indians called up so many of the Clippers starters. He gave up a team season-high 12 hits in his last start.
Germano started the season with the Indians, going 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in nine relief appearances. He was designated for assignment on May 19 by the Indians, cleared waivers and reported to Columbus.
Germano had recorded three saves for Columbus before being moved into the starting rotation earlier in July.
