Quick thinking grandma saves boy from sleazy kidnapper in local park

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH (WOIO) - North Ridgeville Police are looking for witnesses to an attempted kidnapping at the South Central Park splash pad area.

A male reportedly grabbed a 4-year-old boy from his grandmother Thursday afternoon and took off.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m.

Grandma Kriss Coventry tells 19 Action News that she yelled for help and screamed at the top of her lungs. The male got scared and tossed the boy to the ground just before exiting the park towards Bainbridge Road.

Officers immediately flooded the vicinity but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect or anyone else who had matched the suspect description.

The boy was not injured.

North Ridgeville Police are searching for the white, middle aged male.

There were approximately 50-100 people who were present at the park at the time of the incident. The only witness who observed the attempted abduction is the grandmother.

Anyone with any information can contact the North Ridgeville Police Department at (440) 327-2191.
