Holmes County plane crash victims now named

HOLMES COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - In Holmes County, near Millersburg, we now know the names of the three people killed in the plane crash.

The crash happened Monday, and the wreckage was discovered Tuesday.

The pilot was 48-year-old Phillip Wayne Hatfield of Pennsylvania and his passengers were 36-year-old Jonathan Hines of Indiana and 38-year-old Tracy Custer of Indiana.

The weather was foggy at the time of the crash and the pilot struck tree tops at the top of a hill.

The pilot had departed from the Holmes County Airport and was en route to the Jefferson County Airport.

The pilot was flying a N2286P Piper Appache Twin Engine aircraft.
