University Settlement, a neighborhood center in Cleveland's Broadway/Slavic Village community, announces that on Friday, August 12th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m., it will host its 10th Annual Back to School Fair.
University Settlement provides 2,000 bags filled with school supplies at no cost to students living in the Broadway / Slavic Village Community. This year as in previous years, the Settlement will distribute school supplies in a family-friendly, festive environment, complete with inflatable rides, games, music, food, and entertainment.
In addition to school supplies, representatives from a number of community-based resources will be on hand to answer your questions and provide valuable information for you and your family. Confirmed partners include the Department of Children and Family Services, Applewood, the Girl Scouts, Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services, Employment and Family Services, Slavic Village Development, Boys and Girls Club, Neighborhood Housing Services and the Broadway School of Music and Arts.
Children will take turns bouncing in the inflatable jump houses, learning about skateboarding from the Public Square Group, playing carnival games for prizes, enjoying frozen treats provided by First Merit Bank and taking a chance to win tickets to see the Cleveland Indians. Pony Rides, provided by the Kiwanis Club of Independence, will also be available. An exciting addition this year is the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities and University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, providing no-cost dental care to youth aged 3 - 12. The City of Cleveland's ShoWagon will again provide entertainment, along with many other acts including Ronald McDonald's magic show.
The 2011 Back to School Fair would not be possible without the support of Eaton Corporation, The W. O'Neil Foundation, The John K. Mott Youth Fund Distribution Committee (a United Way program), Bank of America, The Daniel W. LoPresti '03 Student Philanthropic Board, Baldwin-Wallace College, Foresters Insurance, ArcelorMittal, Wal-Mart, Jursich Broadway, Inc., Goodrich Landing Gear, Dave's Markets & Frito Lay, Kiwanis of Independence, SS&G, Third Federal Savings and Loan, General Building Products, SGD Design, Faber Castell, Hyland Software, Suburban Temple - Kol Ami, City of Westlake, First Merit Bank and Stricker Refinishing.
