Trial continues for uniformed officers accused of inmate abuse

A judge will decide whether or not two Cleveland cops are guilty of repeatedly striking a handcuffed inmate in 2010.

Officers Adonna Perez and Lindsey Bissell are accused of beating Lajerrica Welch.

Officers Perez and Bissell arrested Welch last December after a disturbance at a nightclub.

The incident was captured on videotape as Welch was taken into the city jail.

The two female officers are facing charges for going way too far but defense attorneys say the officers just did what they had to do and that's control a combative prisoner. They call Welch a drama queen.

Prosecutors there's no excuse and the second officer should have stopped it.

Judge Marilyn Cassidy is expected to decide the case sometime this week.
