In a game that saw ups and downs and even an earthquake, the Indians prevailed over the Mariners 7-5 in walk-off fashion in game one of a doubleheader at Progressive Field.
Shin-Soo Choo hit a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to bring the Progressive Field crowd to it's feet.
Ironically, Choo was the batter in the third inning when an earthquake hit the northeast Ohio area. He doubled to right-center while the 5.9 magnitude earthquake was rumbling the ground.
Many in the press box felt the earthquake which lasted about 25 to 30 seconds. Fans in the upper deck also said they felt the earthquake.
Choo went 2-4 with a double, homer and 3 RBI.
Justin Masterson went 8 and 1/3 innings for the Indians giving up all five Mariners runs while striking out seven.
Trayvon Robinson gave the Mariners the lead 5-4 in the ninth when he hit a two-run double off of Indians closer Chris Perez, who just came into the game. Perez eventually got the next two batters to earn his third win of the season.
The bad news came in the nightcap, when the Mariners put 12 runs on the board en route to a 12-7 win.
