Indians Fall to Mariners Again, Fall 6.5 Games Back

Cleveland (WOIO) - The Indians have 35 games remaining, but even the most optimistic fans are now realizing that, barring a bizarre turn of events in September, their playoff push is over, after falling to the lowly Seattle Mariners for the third time in four games on Wednesday, 9-2 at Progressive Field.

The Indians scored first, in the third inning, on a Shelley Duncan RBI single, but it was the last time they'd ever lead.  Wily Mo Pena homered in the fourth, and added a two-run double in the fifth, as the Mariners slowly pulled away.

The loss leaves the Indians 6.5 games behind Detroit in the A.L. Central.
