BROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) - Several hundred customers in Cuyahoga County remain without power Saturday following Wednesday's severe weather.
Residents on the east side near Miles tell 19 Action News they haven't seen many power company vehicles in the area and wonder when their power will be back up and running.
First Energy's website reported that the Brooklyn and Miles neighborhoods "experienced extensive damage to our system with many downed poles and trees due to storms that passed through our service territory. Crews continue to work restoring power to all affected customers as quickly and safely as possible. We expect to have the majority of customers restored by Midnight Saturday, provided no additional storm damage occurs. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and as always, please remember to treat all downed wires as live and dangerous."
Meanwhile, American Electric Power in Stark County is sending crews to the east coast to battle Hurricane Irene. With the power out locally, First Energy customers are hoping crews stick around until everyone is restored.
Todd Schnieder at First Energy tells 19 Action News that crews will remain in the Cleveland area Saturday hoping to get everyone back up and running by midnight and if needed, will send some crews to the east coast Sunday.
