The Cleveland Cavaliers' new NBA Development League team in Canton will open their inaugural season at home on Friday, November 25th, tipping off against the defending NBA Development League Champion Iowa Energy at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
The 50-game regular season schedule consists of 24 home and 24 road games, as well as two mid-January games at the annual NBA D-League Showcase with dates, times and opponents to be announced by the league at a later date. Canton will play each team in the league at least twice, with the exception of the Tulsa 66ers and the Reno Bighorns who they play once and the Dakota Wizards who they do not face. The team plays the Fort Wayne Mad Ants a schedule-high seven times during the regular season (five times at home and two times on the road).
Canton starts the season with a season-long tying four-game home stand, which includes the opener versus Iowa, a home/home back-to-back against the Texas Legends and finishes against Fort Wayne. The team has two four-game road trips, their longest road stretches of the season, from Jan. 16-21 and March 22-30. The Canton schedule will also feature six games against the Cavaliers' NBA Development League affiliate from last season, the Erie BayHawks (now affiliated with the New York Knicks exclusively). The season series with Erie will feature three home and three away matchups, including a back-to-back weekend set on Friday, April 6th in Erie and then again on Saturday, April 7th back in Canton to finish out their inaugural regular season slate.
Canton will play nine of their first 13 games at home from Nov. 25-Dec. 31. After that, nine of the team's 12 January games are on the road including a stretch from Jan 16-30, in which they will play seven of eight on the road.
Two of the team's 50-game regular season schedule will take place during the annual NBA D-League Showcase on South Padre Island.
