Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting on W. 30th & Meyer Avenues.
It happened Monday around 4:30 PM.
Cops say there was a large fight and during the fight two men pulled out handguns and started shooting.
Both were hit, one in the chest and another his arm.
The victims were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.
The incident was near Lincoln-West High School but it had nothing to do with the school.
Mayor Frank Jackson released this statement concerning the shooting:
"I have warned that the availability of guns was a serious issue for any urban center. It's an issue that is playing out in our neighborhoods everyday. We have confiscated 600 guns this year alone from our gun suppression initiative but today's shooting is indicative of a continuing problem. Please be assured that there will be a thorough investigation into what happened in this particular incident. However, I would ask once again that the legislature give us the ability on a local level to do whatever is necessary to keep guns off our streets."
The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information about this incident to contact the Second District Detective Bureau at 216.623.5218. Anonymous information can be given to Crime Stoppers by calling 216.252.7463 or Text messaging to Text TIP657 plus your message to Crimes (274637).
