Cops search for First Place Bank robber

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

On August 30, 2011 at approximately 12:40 P.M., officers of the Elyria Police Department responded to the First Place Bank, located at 361 Midway Blvd, Elyria in reference to a robbery.

Bank employees told police revealed that at approximately 12:35, the suspect entered the bank through the front door. 

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years of age, near six feet tall, approximately 250 lbs, wearing a white short sleeve shirt, light in color shorts, dark colored tennis shoes, a black Cleveland Indians baseball cap (with the white cursive I), white large framed sunglasses and what appeared to be a shoulder length black wig.  The suspect also had what appeared to be a red athletic sweat band or bandage on his right forearm. 

The suspect passed a note indicating he was armed, and demanding money from a teller.  No firearm was seen.  

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and he exited the front doors of the bank leaving eastbound on foot.  His direction and method of travel are unknown beyond that point. 

There was one other customer in the bank and seven bank employees present at the time of the robbery. No one was injured as the result of this robbery. 

Police are investigating.
