Ashtabula County: wife killed and husband is on the run

ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - In Rome Township, Ashtabula County, Sheriffs Deputies looking for the husband they say killed his wife.

On Tuesday, August 30th, at approximately 11:20 AM, the Lake County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was asked to respond with the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office to 1414 Dodgeville Road.

The SWAT team was there to apprehend Thomas Propst, who was suspected of shooting his wife Paulette, and attempting to kill his daughter who had escaped from their home and called police. The suspect was believed to be in the residence at the time.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office SWAT team found the suspect's wife, Paula Propst, dead in the living room from a number of gunshot wounds. However Thomas Propst, was not there.

Propst is believed to have left the area after shooting and killing his horse as well.

Deputies say he was trained as a sniper in the military.

The suspect is believed to be driving a white Toyota pick-up. The pick-up is equipped with a black cap. The license number is BV38QG. If the suspect is located, do not attempt to apprehend. However, contact 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
