40-year-old Cleveland man killed while leaving for work

An early morning murder on Cleveland's east side Friday.

40-year-old Bennie Deloach was fatally shot in the 1700 block of East 87th Street shortly after 5AM.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Deloach was leaving for work when his wife heard shots fired, looked outside and noticed her husband's car was still in the driveway. Afraid to go outside, victim's wife called 911.

Cops arrived to find Deloach with gunshot wounds. EMS was notified, responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

 This investigation is being handled by the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit.

Police say Deloach was shot in the head, but the official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
