Ohio brass settle Cuyahoga County ballot battle

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald and Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted have reached an agreement in the Cuyahoga County ballot dispute.

It's been a war of words between the county and the state over access to mail-in ballot applications. And despite threats and accusations from both sides, they've come to an agreement.

The county was concerned with cutting down on lines and chaos, and encouraging vote by mail. That's not as much an issue during non-presidential elections.

So from here on out, at the state's expense, the county will send out mail-in applications to all registered voters in Cuyahoga County and the rest of the counties throughout the state.

In return, the county won't be sending out applications unless requested for the November election.

"I am glad we have been able to work out our differences, but ultimately it will be the voters who benefit from this agreement. This will help reduce the chance of long lines at the polls during the Presidential Election and voters in smaller counties will have the same conveniences as voters in larger counties," said Secretary of State Jon Husted.
