AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron Police and fire were called out to a home daycare on Russell Avenue in Akron around 2 p.m. for a 13-month-old who had been left in hot car and died.
Emergency crews transported the toddler to Akron Children's Hospital, but she was pronounced dead.
Police say a daycare worker had brought the toddler, identified as Aolani McCray from Haynes Street in Akron, along with four other children to the address on Russell Avenue between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The worker, a female in her 30s, forgot Aolani in the back of her Ford Expedition.
The area is under a heat advisory with a heat index reaching 100 degrees.
The Summit County Coroner will conduct an autopsy Saturday.
